Premises: A Building and Its Grounds

Premises (plural) refers to a piece of land and the buildings on it — most commonly in legal, commercial, and property contexts.

"Security personnel patrol the premises overnight."
"You must vacate the premises by the end of the month."

This meaning of premises is always plural, even when referring to a single property. You would not say "the premise" when talking about a building.

Can "Premises" Mean Multiple Assumptions?

Yes. Premises is also the plural of the logical/argumentative sense: Both premises in the argument are questionable.
